The sixth Kaduna State House of Assembly was on Thursday was inaugurated with the re-election of Aminu Abdullahi Shagali as Speaker.
Earlier, before the session, the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Zubair Ibrahim, who presided over the sitting had said that the election of the Speaker would be done without comments or debate on the floor of the House.
A Member representing Kaduna South Constituency, Yusuf Dahiru Liman, moved the motion for the selection of the speaker and nominated Aminu Abdullahi Shagali, who represents Sabon Gari Constituency in Zaria Local Government of the State, while Tanimu Musa of Kachia constituency seconded the motion.
The 37-year old-Speaker from the ruling APC, has been a member of the Assembly since 2011 and was elected Speaker of the House in the year 2015.
Shagali’s re-election did not, however, come as a surprise as the leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC in the state, Governor Nasir Elrufai had since made case for his return as Speaker of the 6th Assembly.
The Deputy Speaker was elected when Mukhtar Isa Hazo of Basawa Constituency moved the motion for the selection of the Deputy Speaker in the person of Hon.Yusuf Zailani of Igabi Constituency while Hon. Haruna Muhammad Inuwa seconded the motion.
The Deputy Speaker elect, Hon. Yusuf Zailani is a 4th time member of the Assembly.
